I think I learned a lot this semester in Dr. Shi's class. I really enjoyed the story bird project, I think that'd be a great way to incorporate almost any kind of subject or content area. I like how it gave the creator total freedom to choose anything to write about, yet it had an overall, polished look because of the art work. I also liked Voice Thread, although I thought that was a bit hard to get used to. I wish we had more time to learn Smart Board training, but I think I can understand the basics by now. I do wish we could have learned how to use it on regular PC's, as I'm completely unfamiliar with MAC's.
ReplyDeleteOn a realistic level, I would like to incorporate one new technological tool every month in the classroom, which would give the class about 8 or 9 different tools they could learn throughout the year.
I think it's important that we spend the time to ensure that all students know how to use each program before we move on to another. I feel that's the most important part of teaching with technology, otherwise I can foresee some students getting lost and frustrated. Once a student starts to feel lost, it's easy to get overwhelmed with learning new things on top of programs you already don't understand.
2.How do you plan on incorporating technology in your classroom effectively?
ReplyDeleteI plan to incorporate technology in my future classroom by using technology in all subject matters. I believe that practice makes perfect therefore, I hope to use all different technology into my lessons and classroom environment. By educating myself with the latest technology, I will be able to incorporate a wide variety of technology such as smart board, computer programs, video, camera, etc. into my classroom t to be able to provide knowledge and experience for my students to learn from.
1.Why do you feel that following the steps in the backward design process is important?
ReplyDeleteThe first step in the backward design process is to identify desired results, and what students know, understand, and should be able to do. The next step is to determine acceptable evidence, which is how we know if student has succeeded in the desired results and met the standards. The last step is to plan learning experiences and instruction, which is what students need to do in order to achieve the expected results. I think that this process is very beneficial to students. Teachers need to set thier expectations in a classroom and plan out the results of an activity. Standars are also an importnat part of teaching because we need to make sure we are teaching the correct material, and giving the students all we can. We need to be there for the students no mater how much time or effort it takes. Those children deserve the time from us as teachers to succeed at anything we expect of them. Creating fin and engaging lessons will help the students learn new things. The three steps are important to teaching because we as teachers need to plan, organize, relate everything to a standard, and be creative with your lessons. Children need to have fun in school, and be engaged.
